Roku!!!

It's nearly 10PM and I can hardly stay awake anymore.  But I'm behind in everything I want to blog, so I thought I'd at least get this little one out tonight.

My techie brother turned me on to a device that runs on your internet and connects to your TV.  You can use Hulu Plus, Netflix, Pandora, Amazon, and other stations to which you wish to subscribe.  You can also plug in a device with a USB port such as a hard drive to watch movies (that you presumably purchased legally from... iTunes, or something).

It rocks.  Some programs are still only available via Hulu on the web, like The Simpsons, but just about everything is watchable on Roku.  It is a tiny device with an itty bitty remote and I can't get enough.  I decided when I moved that I couldn't afford cable and wireless internet fast enough for my needs.  I made the right choice going with internet.  Now I sit on ice packs on the couch, re-watch Weeds, and feel like I am rich, rich, rich.  (This is good since I got another UTI and have that shards of glass in my abdomen feeling again.)

Here's a link to Roku and picture of what it looks like in my house!

  1. We're getting rid of our satellite because my kids watch WAAAAAY to much Disney Channel/Nickeloden teenybopper shows that I just don't think improve their attitudes at all! So I'm thinking I'm going to need a ROKU for my bedroom so I can watch things while I'm taking care of a new baby! I'm glad to hear you like yours...which one did you get. I'm looking at the cheapest one and didn't know if that would be enough.

  2. Don't get that cheapest one. Get the top one. You want the one where you can plug in a USB. But I think getting one for your bedroom is a really great idea. I'll email you about this, too.
