
I thought there were no more surprises when it comes to pain. (Yes we are heading back in this direction for this post, after all this is Chronicles of a Chronic Pain Patient).
I had become accustomed to the types of pain I described in a previous post – the burning, the stabbing, the electrifying running down my leg to my toes, etc. But last night I rolled over in bed and got this sort of crushing pain, as if all my nerves were being compressed and they were reacting like spoiled children to stern discipline.
I know the weight gain isn’t good for my body and I’m sure puts extra strain on all things pain related, but I don’t think the crush was from the adipose tissue. It was more like all the nerves decided to bunch together at once and crush themselves into a tight knot or something. I’m having difficulty describing it.
So here’s to surprises, here’s to the complexity of the human body, and here’s to the learning: it literally takes my breath away.
