Life's funny that way...

Life is funny. That’s the least you could say about it. I finally have a buyer for my china. My china is Mikasa Palatial Platinum I’ve collected pieces for about six years now and it’s a pretty extensive collection. I’m selling it for a ridiculously low price. I just want it to have a good home. I can’t imagine trying to store it all in our new place.

And I’m not sad about it. I mean, I’m a little sad. I cried a little when I packed it up. But I’m really okay about it.

And I sold my beloved Fire King Jadite I’ve been collecting for the past four years. Not a tear, not even so much as a blink.

But last night I took my Fire King Peach Lusterwear off craigslist. I couldn’t stand selling it for the low price I had placed on it and as it sits on my table everyday and I look at it everyday I decided I couldn’t part with it.

Nor can I part with a platter I picked up from a yard sale for a couple of bucks.

But the china is okay somehow even thought we’ve had Thanksgiving dinner on those pieces and I’d hoped our children would enjoy special meals on them. I think it’s because we’re starting a new adventure.

We were all set to adopt children in 2006 and were practically readying their rooms before we got in that car crash. My subsequent disability and everything after derailed all our plans. And now I want to do something else with my life career-wise that is a long-term schooling commitment, my husband has plans for his career and schooling, and we are moving into a situation that is as far from our “life plan” as you can get.

But we will get back to Thanksgiving dinners on china and our plans to start a family through adoption. I am looking forward to the challenge. And by that I’m actually talking about the challenge of a new collection, starting from scratch with a new china pattern, and collecting it piece by piece.

  1. That is BEAUTIFUL china! I should have inquired while the offer was still on Craigslist! (see that's me, always a day late and a dollar short)

But they'll always have beautiful china, and sometimes the hunt is the fun part.

And your new "life plan" will be a fun adventure for you too!

  2. And it's totally okay you're keeping your Peach Lusterware!
